Challenging Behaviour

Progress School promotes positive behaviour

A multi disciplinary team of professionals provide support and advice both to school and residential support staff. The team help the children and young people to manage their anxieties through structure and routine. Strategies include alternative communication systems, managing sensory needs and implementing strategies for the reduction and management of challenging behaviour.

Each young person has a behaviour support plan which is reviewed and documented at their individual care and education plan meetings (ICEPS).

The management and staff team are all highly trained and experienced in dealing with severe / moderate learning difficulties and pupils with autism, autistic spectrum disorders and associated behaviours.

All of the staff throughout Progress School receive a 5 day induction programme which includes training in team teach, autism, positive behaviour support, sensory awareness, communication skills, safeguarding and first aid. Our team teach refresher courses are run every 12 months.
